Kona Airport to Kailua-Kona: how long is the drive?
What this drive is
Kona International Airport (KOA) is on the lava flats north of town, and it is where almost every Big Island trip begins.
Kailua-Kona is the dry west-side town most visitors use as a base, and it stretches south through Keauhou, Hōlualoa, Kealakekua and Captain Cook.
What it costs as a day
There and back is 26 minutes of driving, before you do anything at either end. This is the first drive of the trip, done tired, usually with a rental-car counter in between.
